This is the LED Heat sink component that fits in the ECan housing. The recessed LED cavity is specific to the Side Emitter LED only. To use the Lambertian, one must raise the LED the distance of the LED ledge.
You should be aware that this exposes the bare aluminum and it is very easy in this ESink for the wire to short to the bare aluminum. Unlike other modules or assemblies, the wire hole is adjacent to the LED black plastic diameter.
The intent is to dress the LED leads, bend them straight down and flush to the side of the LED. The wires then come up and are against the LED leads that have been bent down. This means that you have to be extremely careful in trimming the wire leads as they are soldered to the Luxeon LED right after they exit the top of the ESink.
You should take your time and ensure that the wires coming from the Ecan come out of the ESink the correct distance and pay careful attention to this possible shoriting issue.
Take your time and you will create a module you can be proud of. The ECan and ESink fit the E series Surefire head (E1, E2). The E head must have the lamp hole bored or drilled out with a 13/32" drill. Do not wipe or brush the reflector surface as this will remove the refective coating on it. When drilling the hole try to keep as much of the chips that come off from entering the reflector section. 0.75" Dia 0.25" thick with recessed divot on one side and raised shelf on the other side |
